What if I see an error while trying to complete the SMS verification?

Failed to initiate SMS, please try again

You will see this error if the mobile number you’ve registered with the bank doesn’t have enough balance to send an SMS for verification. Please recharge this number and try again.

If you continue to see this error even after recharging your number, please contact us with the below details: 

  • Mobile model number and model name 
  • Mobile number 
  • Operator name
  • Is roaming service activated? 
  • Is your mobile number ported? 
  • Is this the first time you are using your phone for device verification? 
  • Do you have enough balance to send a verification SMS?
  • Are you able to send an SMS from the selected SIM? 
     
Mobile number mismatch

You will see this error when the device you’re using for SMS verification doesn’t have the SIM card of your PhonePe registered number. Please insert the SIM card, and try again. 

Note: If you are using a dual SIM device, please ensure that you select the correct SIM slot.

If you continue to face this issue even after inserting the SIM of your PhonePe registered number, please contact us with the following details,

  • Mobile number 
  • Operator name
  • Is roaming service activated? 
  • Is your mobile number ported? 
  • Is this the first time you are using your phone for device verification?

You will see this error when you close or minimise your PhonePe app while the SMS verification is in progress. Please try again.  

If you see this error even when your PhonePe app is not minimised or closed during the SMS verification, please contact us with the following details,

You're using an international SIM or a turbo SIM. Try with a SIM from a national mobile operator or use another device

You will see this error if you are using an international SIM or a turbo SIM for the verification.
