Does the International Travel Insurance cover coronavirus?
Yes, International Travel insurance will cover coronavirus under the following terms and conditions:
- You will be covered only if you've tested positive for coronavirus while travelling internationally.
- You should have tested negative for coronavirus before travelling internationally. A coronavirus negative report (conducted 72 hours prior to travel) is mandatory and will have to be submitted at the time of filing a claim. If you don't have this report, the waiting period for covid cover will be 7 days from the date you reach the destination (outside India). This waiting period of 7 days is not applicable if you are already abroad and renewed the policy before it expired.
- If you renew the policy after it expired and there's a break-in period, you will have to wait for 7 days from the payment date to be covered for coronavirus.
Note: The break-in period is the time between the last date of renewal and the date on which you renewed the policy. - You can't file a claim if you've experienced symptoms of coronavirus before your international trip or came in close contact with a COVID-19 positive patient within 14 days of the trip start date.
