What if my contact settles a payment outside of PhonePe? 

You can mark the payment as settled if you have received the money outside of PhonePe. To do so, 

1. Tap To Mobile Number under the Transfer Money section on your PhonePe app home screen.
2. Tap Split Expense. Next, tap Groups or People.  
3. Select the relevant split expense and tap Mark As Received.
